Can Magick Change the Past?

Today I am going to write about a fantastic and unbelievable subject that has increasingly fascinated me. Magick to change the past and shifting realities. For quite some time I have had an intense interest in this type of thing. I have always been super interested in the concept of time travel, even as a small kid. I loved movies that dealt with the subject, such as Terminator (1984), Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), and The Time Machine (1960). I also especially loved the Future Trunks Saga of popular anime Dragon Ball Z.

Much of my life I have fantasized about being able to go to a different timeline/reality. I think a large part of this is due to how shitty my life has been. I have many chronic health problems. I have severe sleep apnea that requires me to wear an uncomfortable mask to sleep at night (and I had sleep apnea for many years without knowing it and was chronically exhausted to the point of mental breakdown), I have severe anxiety and intrusive thoughts of self-harm (healing magick helps tremendously but I still struggle), severe allergies to everyday products, and recently I was diagnosed with an incurable disease. (Update: it turned out to be a misdiagnosis and I had a curable rather than incurable disease. I believe the retroactive magick I used worked.)

I have also never cared for my body, I am quite ugly. Due to genetics I began balding at age fifteen and was bald before I even graduated high school. Not to mention I have suffered intense abuse as a child including violence and sexual abuse.  It just seems like the deck was stacked against me right from the get go.

So I often daydream of another life in another world, one similar to this one, but without all the abuse and trauma. One where I am physically and mentally healthy, one where I am loved and cared for by many.

When I first began heavily practicing magick back in 2016-17, I felt that I could turn my whole life around and everything would be okay. I was able to get a girlfriend who loved me, a job I loved, a nice apartment, everything seemed like it would work out. 2018-19 were the best years of my adult life.

But then came 2020, and slowly but surely, everything I worked so hard for was taken away. I lost my dream job, then another decent job, my sanity, my home, and the love of my life after half a decade together. Even with magick, my entire life fell apart.

But I believe that the events in one's life serve a higher purpose. I'm beginning to experiment with retroactive magick. Not the kind that Taylor Ellwood writes about, although I like his books and have read most of them, but real retroactive magick. The kind that actually changes the past. I know this seems far-fetched, but I truly believe it is possible and will do everything I can to find a way.

I first heard the idea of a "retroactive enchantment" from Poke Runyon (Peter J. Caroll) in his book Psybermagick. He wrote,

"Depite the ease with which this effect manifests in delayed choice quantum optics experiments, some magickians still seem to have difficulty in summoning the belief to make this work on the macroscopic scale.

Try this experiement:

Wait until you have lost something.

Rather than conduct further fruitless searches, try and trick your subconscious into believing that you actually put the object in a particular place where you actually want to find it. If you have to, you can even use a location that you have already searched, but in this case you will also need to make your subconscious recollection of having searched that place as hazy as possible.

Then, whilst occupying your conscious mind with some powerful distraction (anger works well), go to the chosen location and retrieve the lost object."

In a Gallery of Magick blog post entitled The Past Can Empower Your Magick, Damon Brand writes,

"Magick works through both directions in time. A successful ritual must affect many factors to bring you even the simplest result. To change current or future reality rapidly, the change must usually begin some time in your past. You can use this knowledge to enhance your magickal results." [empahasis mine]

However, he cautions, "When I say that magick works on the past as well as the future, it’s important to know that this does not mean that you change history. The events that have happened are set in stone. But when those events occurred, months or weeks ago, they may have been affected at that time by the magick that you are performing now."

But that doesn't make sense to me, either magick can affect the past or it cannot. If it can, then it can. So if magick does indeed work through both directions in time, then theoretically one should be able to change the past.

In his Book of Azazel, E.A. Koetting list many intriguing spirits. Of particular interest is Ahk'laht'esh, who is said to be the "master of time." His description states:

"[Ahk'laht'esh] can make time seemingly come to a halt momentarily, as well as slow down for short periods, or accelerate for short periods, allowing your perception of time to pass more quickly or more slowly, depending on your needs. When he does so, he will always remind you that what is taken must be paid back. If you have asked that a period of time be slowed down, the following period of time will accelerate, with the opposite holding true as well."

But more importantly, he can, "teach you rituals that will effect the past, and can open gateways into the future through which you can travel to view decades or even centuries beyond." [emphasis mine]

I've already performed some rituals with Ahk'laht'esh, the first of which was an information gathering ritual. Later on in trance I was given both a sigil and a mantra. I will write more on this at a later date.

Something interesting I've also discovered is an extremely simple technique taught by Neville Goddard, called "the pruning shears of revision."

To do this, you simply imagine the past event having happened differently. So say you went to the doctor and they told you that you have cancer. You would imagine yourself back in the doctor's office, but this time they tell you that it isn't cancer and is nothing to worry about. This technique is best performed either close to sleep or when first waking up.

Recently I had a conversation with a well-known occult author who I highly respect and asked them about this. I asked them if magick could change the past.

They replied: "Magick certainly works through both directions in time. When we perform magick we manipulate the future by working on the past. It's an essential part of advanced and cunning magick. But when something has happened and is known and is real to you, and others, that's another matter. I won't say it never happens because I have come across many wonders that defy logic, and even magickal logic. So I will say it can be done but that the effort is so extreme and the journey so unusual and the chance so slim, that it can't be done for everyday things."

After giving me some practical advice about my medical problems they also added: "Oh, one last thing. If in doubt, try it out. You can ignore all the above and try to change the past, it's a massive experiment, but you never know."
