More on the Placement of Magickal Elements

Back in March I wrote a blog post answering questions about the Demonic Circle. I explained the reasoning behind switching the elements in the banishing. According to the popular Golden Dawn tradition, fire is in the south and air in the east but the Demonic Circle has fire in the east and air in the south. This comes from the elemental placements in the Circle of Power ritual given in Damon Brand's book Archangels of Magick.

I had been practicing the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram for a while, but had mixed feelings about it. I had a lot of bad dreams while using it. I wrote about this back in March as well. The placement of fire in the east and air in the south just feels so much better, everything clicks. That is why I have positioned the elements as such in my own rituals (most of the time).

Recently, while reading and researching some old grimoires, I came across more information to backup this placement of the elements. The Key of Knowledge (Clavicula Salomonis) lists them as such:

i. The fair and beautiful spirits are in the North.

ii. The fiery spirits remain in the East.

iii. They which are created of the water remain in the West.

iv. They which came of the wind are in the South.

If you would like more magick, or to learn the Demonic Circle, please purchase my books (both of which contain the Demonic Circle along with other powerful magick).
